This week the Dutch company Fairphone will present the homonymous smartphone that has already registered 15000 pre-sales, with the slogan "Buy a phone, start a movement". But 10000 still lacks sales to begin production of the first device that wants to put man first and not profits. In fact the phone will be sold to 325 € but, something never seen before, we can observe the cost of production, design, taxes, etc. here.
The terminal is composed of mid-range hardware and looks like this: 4.3 display ″ (960x450p) Dragontrail, which promises good durability and scratch resistance, Mediatek 6589 quadcore CPU to 1,2 Ghz, 16 GB of internal memory and 1 GB of RAM, 8 MP rear camera and 1.3 front, dual sim and removable 2000 mAh battery which should last longer than the products on the market. Everything is managed by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but with a customized interface by Kwame Corporation.
As we have said, every single expense is shown, offering total transparency, so that we can understand the price difference from the finished product to the product on sale and therefore "try to change things". Transparency is also applied to the materials used, Fairphone ensures that the extraction of the first materials such as tungsten, tantalum and tin respects the working standards (safety, wages, health, rights, etc.).
Finally, the phone is sold in a very minimal package. Despite offering pretty good features, in the box we will not find any earphones or battery chargers!
