TubeMate: Download videos and mp3 from Android Youtube

TubeMate is an application that emulates the operation of Youtube, we can in fact watch any video uploaded on the famous Google service, with the possibility of making the Download of the content viewed in various formats.

NB: TubeMate can be used to infringe the copyright of some multimedia content, obviously this article does not want to promote this type of use, make sure before downloading if the content is not protected by Copyright and only use in private what we download.

For obvious reasons Google has not allowed the publication of TubeMate in the Playstore, therefore we will have to download the apk from others unofficial appstore: one of these is Handster, which allows you to download the application for free at this link:

The home screen is very similar to that of Youtube, we are shown popular videos, we can log in with our account, browse our channels and almost everything we are allowed to do from the official Youtube app but with a pleasant difference: all 'opening of the video to be viewed, we are shown in the top bar a series of icons including a green arrow, clicking it will open a popup that will ask us in which format to download the video:

  • Mp4 - Resolution 1280 × 720
  • Mp4 - Resolution 640 × 360
  • Mp4 - Resolution 320 × 240
  • 3GP - Resolution 176 × 144
  • VP8 - Resolution 640 × 360
  • Download as MP3 - Download the audio in MP3 format

clicking Download from the popoup will start downloading the video in the format chosen in the memory of our phone, by default the files will be saved in the mp3 folder within ours sdcard accessible through any file manager.

Downloading the video as a track MP3 may not work on some media players as TubeMate does not properly download in mp3 format but limits itself to using the mp3 extensor, this means that sometimes the files are not reproduced by some software, or not can be set as ringtones, to do this, download the content in a video format and later convert it into mp3 using one of the many specific applications present in the playstore.
