Yesterday I finally received the latest top of the Xiaomi range, that is Xiaomi Mi 9 in the Piano Black color, purchased on Amazon a few days ago and in this video I show it to you in all its beauty and I tell you about my first impressions. Obviously the result is a slightly shaky voice due to the excitement of the first video proposito In this regard, we accept advice and criticism to improve in the next videos
Unboxing and packaging
The packaging is different from the usual Xiaomi packages, in silver with a gradient shade that varies depending on the light. Inside, in addition to the Xiaomi Mi 9 we find the silicone cover, the usual manuals, charger and type-C cable. The 20 Watt Wireless Charger is not included, so you will need to purchase it separately.
Xiaomi Mi 9: first impressions
Very nice and nice design. The camera at the traffic lights is rather ugly. In fact it has a thickness of about 2-3 mm and remains "outside" even using the silicone cover supplied in the box.
One thing I didn't like at first glance is the mirror display and the back mirror which, apparently, holds the prints very much. The fingerprint sensor below the display is fast enough but not instantaneous, I would say it takes about half a second before unlocking the phone. Face recognition is rather rapid.
Xiaomi Mi 9 it has a weight of 173 grams, much lighter than Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and in line with the weight of OnePlus 5T, the two phones I use every day. Regarding the dimensions, the Mi 9 measures 157.5 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm, but as anticipated the thickness increases a lot near the cameras, so as to be a dancer on a flat surface.
On the right edge we have the on / off button and volume rocker, on the left there is a nano SIM slot and a dedicated button to call up Google Asssistant, in the bottom microphone, Type-C port and speaker (mono) and in the upper edge the second microphone infrared port.
The notification LED is on the top right of the earpiece, but from the first tests it seems to be white and not RGB.
After the first power up I checked the memory first: on 64GB only 52 GB are free for the user, but you can definitely earn a few megs by removing some of the pre-installed apps, if you don't like them of course. In fact on Mi 9 we already find some apps like Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, Aliexpress, Joom and finally some connections to install other suggested apps.
The apps can be easily uninstalled, but the guide for them can still be useful uninstall apps on Xiaomi without root 😉
The MIUI is 10.2 version, obviously Global, based on Android 9 Pie. If you're wondering, yes, Xiaomi Mi 9 has 20 band. Android security patches are updated in January. The API2 are enabled, so no modification is required to use the GCam and Widewine L1 is supported, so no problem with the reproduction of HD content on the various streaming platforms such as Prime Video and Netflix.
Last night the first update introduces: the moon mode for the camera, new look for the notch, track of moving objects during video recording and camera optimization
As for the camera, battery and everything else, I'll have to test it for a few days first and I'll talk about it later in the full review. If you want to know something, just ask through the comment box
